“I have a 13 year old, blind pomeranian that I adopted about two years ago, and I brought her in because she had a corneal ulcer that kept coming back. They were able to do a procedure on her ulcer the same day to get her on the path to healing, which I’m very thankful for. Dr. Visser was able to tell me more about my dog’s eyes in an hour than I’d been told in the last two years by other vets. My dog has a very mature cataract in one eye (her other eye is damaged beyond repair) and cataract surgery had never been presented as an option for her but Dr. Visser was able to tell me that she has light perception in that eye and could be a candidate for surgery. I could have cried when she told me that! Dr. Visser and her team were so great and obviously care deeply about the pets they see and their owners. The office is also absolutely adorable and impeccably clean. I highly, highly recommend this office to anyone whose pet is having any kind of eye problems.”
“These people deserve medals for how amazing they have been with our puppy. He needed surgery and they treated him with such care. They explained everything to us in a way we understood. They gave us all our options and the pros and cons of each. I was also surprised by their pricing. They were so fair in pricing – especially considering we were in a situation where our baby needed surgery and it was our only option to save his eye. (Also his name on the welcome board just made me feel special and well… welcomed).”
“They are so thoughtful and caring. They brought my Daisy Mae water and mats since she was having such a hard time getting around. They made her eye much better. They really care about pets and are very knowledgable. I also want to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts after her passing.”
“Our dog was bitten in the eye by a rattlesnake! Dr. Visser made an emergency visit to the animal hospital after hours, and stayed in close contact with us. Due to complications it was subsequently found his eye had to be removed as soon as possible. Dr. Visser arranged to bring in her absolutely amazing tech, Sarah, and together at 8:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning they opened their office and performed the surgery. We were blown away by their genuine compassion and desire to make this little guy feel better! To come across highly skilled professionals such as all of the team at CAES is one thing, but to encounter the genuine level of caring and dedication that they truly have for animals and owners alike is sadly rare in this day and age. We can’t thank them enough and want people to know what wonderful people they are!”
“This is my second visit to this practice. We have now established baselines for both of my dogs. I am so glad we picked this practice. The entire staff are definitely dog people. From the front desk to the techs, we were welcomed and made to feel at home. Dr. Visser was very thorough in her examination. Upon completion, she took the time to explain, in detail, her findings. No question was too small or insignificant.
The canine community is fortunate to have a doctor like Dr. Visser practicing in Charleston.”
“Dr. Visser and staff were so wonderful to work with getting our senior dog Maddi’s laser eye treatment.
They really went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and answered any and all questions we had. Maddi and her dads thank you!”
“The “dogtor” and staff were absolutely wonderful. We are so grateful to them for figuring out what was wrong with our sweet boy. Their compassion made a difficult diagnosis bearable. They offered ways to move forward from here. We are blessed in Charleston to have such a great Veterinary Eye Specialist office. Thank you, Everyone, for taking such great care of our boy.”
“Dr. Visser, Averie and Amy were amazing. Our 4 yr old labradoodle all the sudden started squinting and her eyes looked really sunken, needless to say we were very anxious dog parents! From the moment we walked in the door we were treated with so much kindness and compassion. Dr. Visser squeezed us in to an already long, busy day and you never would have known it because it felt like she spent hours dedicated to our pup alone. She spent so much time explaining things to us and was incredibly thorough in her assessment and work up for our baby. We cannot recommend her and her staff more!”
“Charleston Animal Eye Specialists is definitely the place to go if your pet ever has any eye care needs. Their office is conveniently located West Ashley on Hwy 61 (across a parking lot from Trader Joe’s) & is very easy to locate even without GPS! Their office is kept very nice & clean. It also smells great! They provide lots of delicious nutritious ‘schnackies’ for your beloved pets that even my picky little girlie girl LOVED! She normally holds out for hooman schnackies but she gobbled their liver schnackies right up! Focussing on, “More pweas!” really diverted her attention & helped her feel less anxious about being at a doctor’s office which was a first! Also, their entire staff is very attentive. They are all friendly, caring & compassionate & my sweet girlie girl just loved all of the love & attention that they showered her with.
They are very understanding & want to help make things easier if they can at Charleston Animal Eye Specialists. Their staff is willing to work with you if you let them know of any special needs, might be running late or maybe even need to reschedule. The doctors here are very knowledgeable & really want what’s best for both you & your pet. They take the time to explain everything & are willing to help in any way that they can. Any care &/or treatment options are totally left up to their patient’s parents without any pressure whatsoever. They are willing & take the time to answer any questions without making you feel rushed. They want what’s best for you & your pet. They aren’t out to just make a quick buck. It’s obvious that they genuinely care for your beloved pets here & I highly recommend them.
If your pet ever has any eye care needs, without a doubt, Charleston Animal Eye Specialists is where you’d want to take them! You’re welcome. 😊👏🏻👩🏼⚕️💕👀❣️👅💞🐾☝🏻💯”
“My daughter’s dog had a serious issue with her eye. On the initial evaluation on her eye didn’t look promising. Dr Visser and staff immediately collected a tissue sample and sent it to the lab and requested the sample to be analyzed ASAP. Turned out to be plant material that was behind her “third eyelid”. Dr Visser sat down with my daughter and discussed all the options from treating it with meds and let it run its course to removing her third eyelid. My daughter elected to have her third eyelid removed and in a matter of a few hours her eyelid was removed and she was home resting and showed no signs of pain or discomfort. You couldn’t tell she had an issue with her eye 12 hours after surgery. Dr Visser took it personal that she failed to see it was plant material. My daughter and I think differently. Dr Visser and staff treated her like she was their dog. I can’t thank them enough for what they did for my daughter’s best friend. Hands down the best staff I’ve ever dealt with. The atmosphere and staff truly made a difference. Our 13 year old dog has returned to her old self and acting like she’s 2 again. Thank you again for treating my daughters best friend!!!”
“Dr. Visser and her team are amazing. They got my old gal in fast. Always thorough, kind, and gentle. 10/10 would recommend!”
“I had a great experience getting my Golden Retriever’s eyelid problems corrected. Everyone in the office was welcoming and very personable. I think I met everyone in the office, and they were all great with Tucker, my Golden. They really care about the pets they are treating. Dr. Visser and her staff are the best.”
“This has to be the cleanest vet office I have ever been in. Dedicated to canine eye care, Hannah and her staff were amazing. She handled our most difficult dog with respect and ease making it the best eye exams we have ever had. Thank you.”
“Our Cavalier went blind in one eye and was in pain. We were seen immediately and every member of the staff could not have been kinder or more concerned. Dr Visser makes you feel like you are her most important client, explains all the options and you immediately know your precious pet is getting the best care possible. We are so grateful to have been referred to Dr Visse.”
