Charleston Animal Eye Specialists aims to bring Charleston and the surrounding area state-of-the-art veterinary eye services with care and compassion. We are looking to hire a veterinary assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate would have excellent customer service service skills, and a great attitude. Our fully renovated 2,200 square foot hospital is equipped with cutting edge technology.
About the Role- The veterinary assistant will work with the medical director and veterinary technicians to focus on high quality, comprehensive and effective medical services to ensure the optimal client and patient experience.
Who you are:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Veterinary experience: 6 months minimum preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Flexible, cooperative, dependable, responsible, with good time management and multitasking skills
What you’ll do: The veterinary assistant will be responsible for performing both clinical and clerical duties including:
- Assist in exam rooms by holding patients for ophthalmic exams, catheter placement and venipuncture
- Assist with performing a variety of clerical duties including but not limited to answering phones, collecting payment, and responding to client inquires
- Cleaning duties including cleaning exam rooms, treatment areas and cages
- Cleaning instruments, wrapping surgical packs and drapes
- Assist with laundry
- Restocking medications and other medical supplies
- Preform other duties as assigned
Schedule-
- This is a full-time or part-time position based in Charleston, SC
- 20-40 hour work week
- Monday-Friday
Pay: Compensation is based on experience and skill level
- $15.00-$21.00 per hour

Lead Veterinary Technician
Charleston Animal Eye Specialists is looking to hire a Lead Veterinary Technician that will lead a growing veterinary specialty team in Charleston, South Carolina.
About the Role- The Lead Veterinary Technician will work with the Medical Director to focus on high quality, comprehensive and effective medical services to ensure the optimal client and patient experience. The Lead Veterinary Technician will act as a team lead to the veterinary team as well as assist with administrative duties. This role is 75% clinical and 25% administrative.
Who you are: The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited AVMA program or equivalent with a minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership role. Our surgical requirements are extensive, so we are seeking someone with a strong background in anesthesia and surgery.
- Credentials (RVT, CVT, LVT) preferred
- 3–5-year experience in veterinary anesthesia required
- Prior supervisory/management experience preferred
· Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
· Flexible, cooperative, dependable, responsible, and good time management skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll do: The Lead Veterinary Technician will be responsible for performing both clinical and administrative duties including:
- Understand pharmacology of and use of anesthetic and analgesic medications and calculate and deliver anesthetic agents and fluid therapy.
- Properly induce, maintain, and recover a patient from anesthesia and be able to respond in an anesthetic emergency
- Properly operate and interpret anesthetic monitors including ECG, BP, SPo2, ETCO2, Temperature, etc.
- Be proficient in veterinary technician duties including lab work, catheter placement, and blood draws
- Assist in exam rooms by obtaining history and perform pre-exam diagnostic testing
- Present treatment plans and explain procedures to clients as well as medications and discharge instructions
- Provides leadership within the hospital to delegate tasks and ensure technical procedures are performed according to process in a timely manner.
- Participates in identifying and planning for staffing consistent with needs of hospital and budgetary parameters
- Oversee inventory management of administrative and hospital supplies.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members.
- Identify areas of opportunity to increase efficiency and then implement improvements.
- Oversee OSHA, DEA and SDS forms
· Collaborate with Medical Director to review monthly P&Ls, develop budgets and review benchmarks.
- Maintains equipment and service needs
- Preform other duties as assigned
Schedule-
· This is a full-time position based in Charleston, SC
· 40 hour work week
· Monday-Friday with the possibility of 4 day work week
· A flexible schedule required for on call services and some nights and weekends
